Lillian's First Holy Communion

Last weekend, we celebrated Lillian's First Holy Communion.  We were blessed with lovely weather and visiting grandparents.  Here are a few photos of Lillian's special day.

There's always gotta be one blinking, doesn't there?!

Grandma Pam with Lillian.

Grandpa Jim and Grandma Eileen with Lillain.
Grandma Eileen made this dress and it was worn by her two big sisters on their First Communions, too!

Dairy Queen cake for dessert...thanks Grandma Pam!

She has since had her second and third communion.  While she was less nervous, she is still excited to receive Jesus.  I pray that she keeps that feeling for the rest of her days!

God Bless!

Communion, Sickness, and Movie Night

I've been trying to post something all week, but it just wasn't in the cards.  So, here's a recap of what's been happening with the Kraft clan.

Last Sunday, Joseph celebrated his First Holy Communion.  He is my third child to come to the Lord's table with us!  My friend loaned us a black suit complete with a white tie...snazzy!  Both sets of grandparents traveled the 500 miles from North Dakota to be here for Joseph and spend the weekend with us.  It was a very special day to say the least!

He looks so grown-up!

Here we are...tough to get a good shot of everyone at the same time!

Thanks for celebrating with us grandparents!

His inventive big sisters even made him a cross shaped pinata to commemorate the day!
Haley hasn't been hearing well and I was wondering if it was pre-teen selective hearing syndrome (I just made that up, but I think it may be in the medical journals somewhere!) or if she was having troubles with her ears.  We went in and the doctor said that she had swimmers ear in one ear and the other looked fine.  One week later, she was up all night with pain in the other ear.  So we went in again and this time that ear was full of puss and yuck...time for antibiotics.

Lillian, who has a history of wheezing/breathing difficulties, came down with a cold.  She checked out okay on Wednesday with orders to do nebulizer treatments twice a day.  Friday night she was up all night with body aches and 102 temperature.  Back to the doctor to get an antibiotic for walking pneumonia.  As long as the Tylenol is in her system, she feels okay, but as soon as it wears off she is miserable again.  I'm hoping for the antibiotic to kick in soon so that she can start feeling well again soon.

Saturday night had movie night written all over it.  I was tuckered out and didn't feel like putting any energy into anything else.  We borrowed a copy of the Mighty Macs from some friends and settled in for the show.  We had to stop the movie a few times for discussions about the culture of the 1970's (women's liberation movement) and to correct incorrect depictions of religious life (removal of habit to enjoy a beer in a bar), but overall enjoyed the movie.

Peter is captivated by the movie!
Can you tell that the Tylenol is fresh in her system?!
So today we rest and pray that this sickness misses Peter.  The weather we're having here in Minnesota is so weird.  One day it is balmy and the next you need a winter coat.  I don't have any scientific data to back this up, but my mom-instincts tell me that this type of weather promotes sickness of all types. It also makes it tough to get a good sleep to overcome and illness when there are massive thunderstorms rolling through most of the night.

I hope that you are all healthy and enjoying the Easter season.

God Bless!

Peter's Baptism

This past weekend, we celebrated as the Church welcomed Peter Francis into the fold!  The ceremony was held after Mass with our family, Grandma Pam, and the Godparents with their children.

Peter was NOT happy.  He had his mind set on nursing and wanted nothing to do with this whole Baptism thing.  He cried and cried!

Our first family photo with Peter!

Peter's lovely Godmother made these adorable cookies.  Esther could not wait to get her hands on them!

Here is a better look at the cookies after I took the wrapping off.

Going, going, gone!  They were as delicious as they were cute!  If you're in need of cookies for a special occasion, consider contacting Grace.  She really does excellent work!

And as if cookies weren't enough to celebrate, we had a scrumptious cake from the local grocery store....yum!

Peter is happy to wear his new sweater from his Godmother.
There were, of course, many more photos.  Grandma took some fabulous pictures of Peter in his baptismal gown...and I forgot to get them off of her camera before she left for home...ugh!  The gown is an heirloom which Todd wore at his baptism and all of our children have been baptized in it as well.  They each have their own bonnet as a keepsake of their first sacramental celebration.

I hope that your Lent is going well and you are preparing to enter into Holy Week.  We haven't kept all of our resolutions and have had to let many things slip.  We had some fabulous plans laid out.  Of course, those were all made pre-Peter.  So, for now, I am offering up many sleepless nights...such is life with a newborn.  We all do what we can, right?

God Bless!
